Introduced on December 2010, currently completely installed and scheduled to be operated from 12 Jan, SOMATOM DEFINITION FLASH CT has two 128-channel detectors and two X-ray tubes, innovatively improving diagnosis speed and reducing radiation dosage compared to previous CT equipment.

With the fastest speed and resolution available among current CTs, regional scanning and whole body scanning can be completed within 0.6 sec and 5 sec, respectively.

PET-CT: launched Positron Emission Tomography-CT on 10 Oct 2007

This cutting edge technology combining PET to examine body metabolism and CT function to check for structural abnormality provides more diverse benefits than previous PETs.

This can shorten test time, accurately identify the location of an abnormality on PET and enable the promptly application of high-resolution CT findings on PET interpretation, which enables physicians to find cancer in early stage and to determine its spread. Recently, for early detection of cancer, systemic PET/CT has becomes commonly used for general health checkup.

Artis Zee is an angiography system for dealing with not only vascular diseases but also systemic diseases, and is used in diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, diagnosis and treatments of carotid artery and peripheral vessels, and observation and function analysis by recent digital subtraction angiography.

The first high-end digital system introduced in Korea, Artis Zee, can reduce scanning time and dose of contrast agents at test, thus eliminating the risk factors associated with catheter procedures. In addition, with excellent resolution and realization of 3D image, physicians to are able make a more accurate evaluation of existing vascular diseases.

In addition to lesions on cardiac vessels, all vascular diseases on the upper and lower limbs can undergo interventional procedures. An automatic impact protection device is attached and total digitalization of image data is available. This 3D Angiography System is a cutting-edge device introduced by Philips, featuring a digital flat panel, image acquisition with 240-degree rotation image, and real-time image display.

Without any additional operation, this automatically provides the best optimized images, and a single dosing of contrast agent enables double-sided scanning of anterior and lateral sides. For this reason, it is very effective, not only in accurate diagnosis of complex fine vessels in the brain and the abdomen, but also in the treatment of blood vessels.

For emergency patients, this 3D Angiography System can be used rather than relocating patients for CT scanning, and it obtains images that are similar to those obtained by a CT, shortening the procedure time.

With reduced contrast dosage, this rapid and accurate angiography provides higher quality medical service for patients.
In particular, this provides vascular treatments while producing accurate angiogram, which will be beneficial for many patients.

CT: Computerized Tomography ▶ launched 64ch MD CT on 14 May 2007.

While previous CT scanning provides 1~4 cross section images per scan, 64ch MDCT produces 64 cross section images with single X-ray scan, which significantly reduces test time. The fine images contribute to high resolution.

In addition, cardiac diseases and coronary arterial diseases can be reconstructed as 3D images. The low dose of X-ray and high-resolution images enable more accurate diagnosis. In particular abdominal area, nerve system, skeletal system and circulatory system show the best advantages.

MRI system is mainly composed of a strong magnet. Once the body is exposed to high magnetic fields, hydrogen in water responds to the field and starts rotating.

When a radio wave with the same frequency as the rotation frequency is added, the hydrogen nucleus in the body absorbs the energy, and emits it later over time. Different lesions produce specific emissions, which are detected by a detector and reconstructed by a computer to generate precise images. This does not use radiation, poses no harm to the body, and can make multiple cross-section images. This is particularly favored in examinations of the musculoskeletal system, nerve system and biliary system.

The major benefits of the HPS high output laser are low bleeding during procedure and rapid recovery that allows patients to be discharged the next day (compared to previous endoscopy, which required 7-day hospitalization).
